Change is inevitable, right? What happens when the consequences of the change are so negative they severely impact our lives? We sometimes feel stuck, not exactly sure what direction to proceed. WalkinTalkinTherapy provides an avenue to address these changes by combining the simplicity of walking outdoors with talk therapy. Advocates of the combined approach say that being active during the session helps patients relax and open up - scientists have long known that a workout can temporarily boost serotonin levels and improve mood, the latest research shows that exercise can have a deeper and more lasting effect.
Welcome to WalkinTalkinTherapy. My name is Jeffrey H. Carter and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor with Post-Graduate studies in Addiction Counseling who has spent the past 8 years working with individuals struggling in the area of addictions. My goal and commitment has been simple; assist individuals and their families in improving the quality of life. Recognizing that every individual is different and challenged by different needs, the 20+ years I have invested into my own personal journey of recovery allows me to offer a wide diversity of intervention through the use of therapy & educational solutions that match client needs with the right learning and therapeutic environment.
Most therapy sessions are conducted outdoors while walking on the Pennypack Park, Core Creek Park or Silver Lake County Park hiking trails. The positive therapeutic value found in combining the outdoors and physical activity with talk therapy continues to be shown in new research and thus allows me another avenue in which to provide a unique experience for my clients. If inclement weather is threatiening, sessions will occur at my office. For additional information on the topic, please take a look at the page titled WalkinTalkinTherapy.
If you feel the time has come to address a drug and alcohol addiction, relationship concern, depression or anxiety, video or porn addiction, my Contact Info page list several ways in which you can reach me. I look forward to hearing from you.
